Yes. SecondKoat is open now in Canada and the USA. You can shop or start selling at secondkoat.com/shop: tap Sell, add photos and a price, and post. Early sellers can become Founding Sellers with 0% fees for their first months.
SecondKoat is launching in Canada and the United States. Most sales are local pickup between people nearby, and sellers can also ship within their country.
Anyone aged 18 or over (or the age of majority where they live) who lives in Canada or the USA can use SecondKoat. The marketplace is focused on women's fashion.
Yes. SecondKoat is built around safety: payments are processed by Stripe inside the app, phone numbers and contact details typed in chat are hidden, every listing is reviewed before it appears, and money is only released to the seller after the buyer has the item. Confirmed reports of dirty, missing or misdescribed items lead to the seller being banned.
SecondKoat is made only for women's pre-loved fashion and combines local pickup with payment inside the app. Buyers pay before meeting, the seller is paid only when the buyer confirms pickup with a 6-digit code, and phone numbers stay private, so there are no e-transfers, cash or gift cards. It also offers Breakup Boxes and Bulk Boxes for selling many pieces in one listing.
To sell on SecondKoat, photograph your actual item, add its brand, size, condition, description and price, and submit it for review. Once approved, buyers near you can buy it in the app, and you hand it over at a public meetup. Payment is released to you when the buyer confirms pickup.
Listing on SecondKoat is free. When an item sells, the seller is paid after pickup. Founding Sellers who join early pay 0% SecondKoat fees for their first months.
A Founding Seller is an early SecondKoat seller who pays 0% SecondKoat fees for their first months. Spots are limited; join the waitlist at secondkoat.com and choose "Sell" to be considered.
You can sell women's clothing, jackets and coats, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories. Makeup, skincare and fragrance are allowed only if they are new, unopened and sealed. Swimwear, lingerie, counterfeits, used beauty products and unsafe or illegal items are not accepted.
Sellers are paid through Stripe. When the buyer confirms pickup with their 6-digit code, the payment is released to the seller's Stripe payout account.
Price used clothes by checking what similar items have recently sold for, then adjusting for brand, age, condition and original price. Be honest about flaws: accurate listings sell faster and earn better reviews.
Shoot in daylight near a window on a plain background. Show the front, the back, the brand and size labels, and close-ups of any wear. Always photograph the actual item you are selling.
The Breakup Box is a way to sell the pieces from a past relationship or chapter, such as gifts from an ex, as one bundle. The seller packs 5 or more washed pieces, photographs every item and sets one price for the box. Someone nearby picks it up and loves them again.
A Bulk Box lets you sell 5 to 100 pre-loved items together as one listing for one price, instead of listing each piece separately. Every item must be washed and clean, with photos of all items laid out plus close-ups, and buyers see the price per item.
If a buyer reports that a box was dirty, missing items or not as described and SecondKoat confirms it after reviewing the photos, messages and order records, the listing is removed, the seller's account is suspended and the buyer can be refunded.
You pay the listed price in the app by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the item is held for you. You then arrange a pickup through in-app messages, meet the seller in a busy public place, inspect the item, and share your 6-digit pickup code to complete the sale.
Yes, when the seller offers it. Most sales are local pickup in a public place, but sellers can also ship within Canada or within the USA. The buyer pays online in the app, the seller ships within 5 days and adds tracking, and the buyer confirms when it arrives. If it isn’t shipped in time, the buyer is refunded automatically.
Yes. Buyers pay only the listed price; there is no buyer fee.
If an item isn't picked up within the pickup window shown in the app (currently 7 days), the order is cancelled and the buyer is refunded in full automatically. Either side can also cancel before pickup, and the buyer gets a full refund.
No. Buyers and sellers chat inside the SecondKoat app, and phone numbers, emails and social handles typed in chat are hidden automatically.
No. All payments go through SecondKoat so they are protected. Off-app payments such as e-transfer, cash or gift cards are not protected and are not allowed.
The SecondKoat app for iPhone and Android is coming soon. Until then, you can shop and sell in your browser at secondkoat.com/shop.
